December 19th saw the annual Christmas Gala raise over $35,000 for charity. This event, held at the Hilton La Jolla in Torrey Pines, has been an icon of San Diego for over 20 years, raising money for various charities. This was a fabulous black tie event that had women wearing long gowns and heels, while men donned their finest tuxedos. Price of admission to this event was an unwrapped toy, which was then donated to a needy family. Guests were able to dance and party from 8 pm until 1 in the morning at the Hilton La Jolla.
This year, the Christmas Gala raised money for two different charities: Athletes for Education and the San Diego Police Southeastern Division. Athletes for Education is a non–profit organization founded in 1993 that connects current and former athletes, business leaders and entertainers with youth. These community leaders work with the low–income and at–risk San Diego youth to help them reach their life goals and develop self–esteem and discipline. Athletes for Education work and collaborate with schools and other non–profits. Check out the Athletes for Education website.
The San Diego Police Southeastern Division serves neighborhoods such as Encanto, Lincoln Park, Paradise Hills and Valencia. You can learn more about the San Diego Police Southeastern Division by going to their website. Then take a look at our event gallery down below.
