Take a deep breath of air. Is it clean? Is it fresh? Or does it feel stale or even cause your lungs to hitch or your nose to twitch? The key for a beautiful home or even office space is clean, quality air and even heating or cooling. Without a great atmosphere the best design in the world cannot help your home, because the problem isn’t in how it looks, but in its health.
If you want to feel as beautiful as your interior design, then you need to look behind the curtain to the system of your home. If upgraded properly, you can breathe in fresh, clean air and enjoy a calming atmosphere the moment you step through the door.
·Deep Clean or Upgrade Your Air Filters
We spend most of our time indoors, but unless the air filtration unit in our home is working at its best, this means we are breathing in stale, recycled air. Particulates build up, allergies or asthma gets worse, and your whole home smells stale. These signs mean you either need to deep clean your air ducts or filters or need to upgrade the system entirely.
·Inspect, Repair, or Upgrade Your Furnace or HVAC
A home that takes a lot of effort to heat or cool is a nightmare, and will impact the atmosphere in a different, but still critical way. If you want to be comfortable and relaxed in your home, you need to inspect and clean your furnace or HVAC unit. If there is an issue, then it is time to either repair it or replace it. If you choose to repair your furnace, definitely hire a professional HVAC company.
For best results of course this will have to be one step in a multi-step process that involves improving the insulation of your home and its energy efficiency.
·Improve Your Home’s Humidity
Once you have upgraded or otherwise improved your air quality and heating consistency, what is next to judge is the humidity in your home. For health purposes, your home should ideally be between 30% to 55% humid. Low humidity can make it easier for viruses and other diseases to infect you through the air. It can also dry out your skin, worsen asthma and allergies, and otherwise impact your health negatively.
High humidity on the other hand will result in mold and mildew buildup. Bringing in a pro who can inspect and recommend a solution (a humidifier or air conditioner) is a must for your health.
·Decorate with Air-Purifying Plants
Air purifying systems can help keep the air you breathe clean, but if you want to improve the atmosphere even further you will want to start investing in air-purifying plants. They are beautiful, clean the air further, and help us reconnect with nature.
·Improve Natural Light
Finally, it is time to brighten the space. Natural light can make any home’s atmosphere instantly better, and you don’t need to knock out space for bigger windows to accomplish this. Instead use mirrors and light colors in your home to reflect light so your mind can be at ease.
