Baselworld is the epicenter for timepiece makers and similar specialized sectors of industry. From watchmaking, jewelry and diamonds, to gemstones, pearls and machines, the annual event held in Basel, Switzerland included more than 1,500 exhibitors, representing luxury brands from more than 40 countries.

This year, exhibitors premiered their innovations and novelties to international press, buyers, agents and enthusiastic collectors.
The economic impact is enormous. For example, The Swiss watch industry, 95% of which is represented at Baselworld, had exports of approximately 21.8 billion Swiss francs in 2013. While innovation was abundant, particular trends appeared at this year’s luxury showcase.
The bar was considerably raised for watch manufacturers as industry leaders introduced more complicated movements, new advancements in time-telling technology, and some of the most stunning horological concepts the market has ever seen. The material on everyone’s mind in the watch industry was ceramic. This imperishable material is both sleek and exclusive, and requires the same high-level of craftsmanship as do the most coveted precious gems.
Chopard Imperiale Collection. The distinguishing feature of this collection is its embroidery-like motif meant to conjure the hangings and cushions on which monarchs would place their insignia.
When asked about what the show means to his company, Stephane Linder, Tag Heuer CEO said, "This is the only show of the year where we see all our retailers and our agents in the space of a few days, the only venue where we feel the pulse of the market in the ‘blink of an eye’. In addition, it is a wonderful platform for communication."
Over the years, Baselworld has evolved into a superlative event. For the watchmaking and jewelry industry, Baselworld has become an indispensable platform for the latest products and innovations.
