The event was held outdoors at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood. With vivid, colorful buildings serving as the backdrop, a stage over a shallow pool of water giving the perfect reflection, plus the quintessential California weather and swaying palm trees made it the perfect setting for designers to showcase their latest collections.

This collection featured a whip-yielding model in leather boots and a red flowing Mohawk. Other models sported colorful, glittery cutouts, strategically placed suspenders, neon and iridescent fabrics, and some revealing pieces that leave very little to the imagination. A number of gasps can be heard coming from the photographers as they snapped away capturing the bold designs, and the playful energy of the models. One model can be seen grabbing his package while another pulled down one corner of his already tiny speedo. There was an array of models in high heels doing cartwheels, backflips, and dance moves that wowed the crowd.

Among the ecstatic, cheering audience, sitting in the front row was Adam Lambert. Judging by the amount of times he had his phone up snapping pictures and laughing with his entourage, it is safe to say that he enjoyed the show. Adam Lambert, who is also a big supporter of the LGBT community, has been in attendance of Marco Marco’s other shows as well.

It is not just his style that deviates from the traditional designs, but also the models whom he chooses to wear his innovative, glamorous pieces. His models are fierce and they are not afraid to let their big personalities shine in the runway. Marco’s lineup includes trans girls, drag models, androgynous beauties, sculpted men and women blazing down the catwalk. Marco’s choice in LGBT models proves that beauty comes in all body shapes, sizes, and age. He defies the stereotype that beauty is defined by some specific criterion that society has sculpted. His rebellion against traditional gender roles is a step forward for the fashion industry. His show redefines what it means to be beautiful in one’s own skin. The positive reaction from the audience shows that perhaps our society is moving in the same direction as well.
