San Diego Ballet En Pointe Gala

The San Diego Ballet Company has been enriching the San Diego community for 25 years, by bringing talent and wonder to every production they have designed and inspiring every audience they performed in front of. To celebrate all that The San Diego Ballet Company has accomplished this year, the annual gala and auction will return once again in commemoration of the season’s success. The En Pointe gala event will be held on Saturday, April 23rd at The Bay View at MCRD San Diego. An elegant buffet dinner will be provided, followed by the no-host cocktails, auction, and dancing. Entertainment will also be provided during the night.

The ballet has had an exceptional season, with hits like Romeo et Juliet and Carnival of the Animals. The production Romeo et Juliet, for example, was among the finest productions of the season, with excellent performances and choreography. Carnival of the Animals then combined ballet with hip-hop to create a colorful pop of fun, which made the audience rethink the structure of ballet.

Many of the productions this season were successful due to the help of Javier Velasco’s expertise leadership skills and choreography. Velasco, creative director at the ballet, has a tendency to redefine and push the limits of dance and choreography. He even writes and directs his own performances on occasion. Velasco has even been awarded a Creative Catalyst Fellowship by the San Diego Foundation recently.

It’s no secret that The San Diego Ballet Company is filled with an extraordinary group of performers; each dancer has trained relentlessly to the point of mastering their craft. The San Diego Ballet Company has even been voted the #1 dance troupe, exemplifying why there is much to be celebrated at the current gala!

The outreach of the company’s excellence even goes so far as to reach education. The ballet company gives back to the community in the form of reaching out to schools and many other outlets. The folks over at The San Diego Ballet Company truly care for the community and the representation of the arts in schools everywhere.

The Gregory Page Trio, a group known for their classic 1920s era inspired music, will deliver entertainment throughout the evening. Page is a recently recognized artist, known for his singer/songwriting skills, as well as a guitar talent. His two companions, Josh Hermsmeyer and Sky Ladd, round out the trio by providing the piano and percussion elements of the group.

The attire for the event is cocktail, so be sure to come out in your best dress for a night full of celebration for an amazing cause. If you can’t attend the gala, the San Diego Ballet is continuously accepting donations. With all the ballet company does for the community, charity seems like the perfect way for them to continue to provide quality entertainment!

The En Pointe Gala will be held on Saturday, the 23rd from 6pm until 10pm. Tickets can be purchased online at San Diego Ballet Dance Company or by calling (619) 294-7378.
