Schubach Aviation Donates Private Jet to Accommodate Live Appearance by Actor Andy Garcia La Costa Film Festival

To the delight of guests, Carlsbad-based private jet charter firm, Schubach Aviation, fulfilled a spontaneous request by event producers to send one of its private charter aircraft to Burbank Airport to pick up famous actor Andres Arturo Garcia Menendez – professionally known as Andy Garcia – and his fellow cast members so they could appear at the closing night gala of the first annual La Costa Film Festival, held October 24-27 at the Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, Calif.

The red carpet and gala fete included a screening of At Middleton, in which Garcia stars. Other film cast members Peter Riegert and Daniella Garcia-Lorido, together with writer/director Adam Rodgers, accompanied Garcia to the outdoor screening and after party.

Garcia became known in the late 1980s and 1990s, having appeared in several successful Hollywood films, including The Godfather Part II, The Untouchables, Internal Affairs and When a Man Loves a Woman. More recently, he starred in Ocean’s Eleven and its sequels, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen, and The Lost City. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Vincent Mancini in The Godfather Part III.

Schubach Aviation safely transported Andy Garcia and other members of the cast to and from Los Angeles via a Citation Jet 1, one of its luxury light jets. The first annual La Costa Film Festival showcased a diverse range of more than 20 film features, documentaries and shorts over four days at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa, the La Costa Cinepolis Theaters, the Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium and the Carlsbad Dove Library next door to the resort. It also featured fare from numerous North County dining establishments.

The Short Game received the jury’s prize for "Best Sports Feature", while SLOMO was honored as "Best Short." Local filmmakers Jason Lee Phillips and Jason Lee Segal were winners of the high school competition with their short film Routines.
