creating a beautiful garden

People might tell you that creating a beautiful garden takes a lot of effort. While it might be partly true, you can turn your garden from just a regular hangout space to something terrific with a few simple ideas.

From January to May 2019, the average amount of money spent on gardening decorations was between seven and fourteen million dollars!

So if you’re also looking for some cool ideas to make your garden look lush and lovely, check out these points below!

1. Get rid of weeds

The first thing on your to-do list should be getting rid of weeds and unwanted plants. Not only will weeds make your garden look pale, but they will also take up the nutrients originally meant for the plants you wish to keep.

Add attractive mulch, such as white pebbles or tiny pieces of gravel, on the flowerpots to prevent the growth of weeds.

If you have an empty garden, you can cover the ground with plastic sheets to prevent the entry of sunlight or air, which are essential for the weeds to grow.

2. Understand the basics of gardening

Depending on the season, you’ll have to change your gardening methods to ensure that the plants get optimum nutrients. So here are a few pointers on how to take care of your garden each season.

a) Summer

During summer, you need to water your plants and baskets thoroughly. Even though there will be plenty of sunlight, you need to ensure that your plants don’t get dehydrated. Use mulches to cover the cultivated beds as they help to retain the soil’s moisture.

b) Spring

Spring is undeniably the best time to vamp up your garden. First, clean up any leftover debris from the previous seasons to give a fresh start to your garden. Then, rake the entire lawn and sweep off the dead leaves and flowers. Spring is also the best time to introduce lawn fertilizer to keep the plants healthy.

c) Autumn

Autumn is the ideal time to prepare your garden for the harsh winter. If you have tender plants, bring them indoors so that they don’t suffer in the frost or snow. To prevent rotting, clear up your garden soil regularly. Prune the bushes, if any, to make the garden look lush.

d) Winter

Winter is when you should start thinking about the trees in your garden. No matter how small your garden is, it should have at least one tree to make it look full and decorative. If you already have a big tree, prune it during the winter. If not, then plant a sapling somewhere between November and March.

3. Add furniture

Next up, you must understand which decorative furniture items to choose. And if you’re looking for some great ideas, Out and Out Garden Furniture should be on your list

If you wish to go for a Mediterranean style, use a sofa set in terracotta and beige shades. Keep things minimal and stylish.

On the other hand, if you want to make it look contemporary, you should go for a splash of bright colors, such as cherry red or light green

4. Invest in decorative items

Based on the decoration theme of your garden, you can choose the items accordingly.

For example, if you have a spare bathtub lying around in the house, paint it in a tasteful way and add small potted plants inside it.

Or, if the garden has a series of small staircases, put small bushes along the sides of each step and decorate the adjoining wall with a beautiful creeper.

For some added style, you can hang small cottage-like decorations with flower plants peeping from the inside.

5. Embrace diversity

If you truly want your garden to look beautiful, make sure there’s diversity but in a tasteful way. You don’t want the garden to look like a messy rainbow, right?

Yellow-orange is a great color combination, where you can plant yellow marigolds with cherry tomato varieties. Or you can also go for purple-pink, such as purple basil, thyme, eggplant, and beetroot.

For a more minimalist look, choose gray-white, which includes cauliflower, alyssum, and white cabbages.

Over to you…

So, dear reader, these are just a few of the many styling ideas for your garden. If you want to make it look like a serene landscape, then start working on your garden now!
