The Sun Is Rising on the Sun Valley Film Festival

For its seventh year, the Sun Valley Film Festival,  took place from March 14 to 18 and featured special appearances by actors and actresses, filmmakers, screenwriters and others in the film industry. Once only known as a ski resort town, Sun Valley, Idaho, is now the location of an annual film festival that is quickly growing in popularity.

The Sun Is Rising on the Sun Valley Film Festival

 In the span of a few days, the film festival hosted "coffee talks", screenwriter and filmmaker labs, as well as daily speakers from within the film industry. Bands performed on the stage in the center of Sun Valley and music echoed through town as attendees mingled and gained indispensable knowledge from film industry experts. This year’s honorees included actors Kate Bosworth, Gwyneth Paltrow and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

Various prizes and recognitions were awarded to independent projects. These awards praised all areas of film and spanned all genres, budgets, lengths, and means of production. Overall, the Sun Valley Film Festival granted over $22,000 in cash prizes as well as mentorship opportunities.

Academy Award-winning actress, Gwyneth Paltrow was honored with the festival’s Vision Award, actress Kate Bosworth was recognized with the Pioneer Award and the Rising Star award was given to Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
