ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE

When: May 9th–June 18th

Where: La Jolla Playhouse

Imagine a place where the sun is hot, the ocean’s warm, and the drinks are as cold as they are plentiful. Welcome to Margaritaville, the island paradise where city folk get away from it all and the locals get into the kind of trouble you can almost always sweet talk your way out of. Featuring both original songs and your most-loved Jimmy Buffett classics, this new musical is the story of a part- time bartender, part-time singer and full-time charmer named Tully who thinks he’s got life all figured out... until a beautiful, career-minded tourist steals his heart and makes him question everything.

Gator by the Bay

GATOR BY THE BAY

When: May 11th–14th

Where: Spanish Landing Park

It features four days of live music with over 100 musical acts and special performances on seven stages. Gator by the Bay includes southern cuisine like 10,000 pounds of crawfish from Louisiana, non-stop live music, dancing and family fun on the beautiful San Diego Bay.

CARMEN AND VIVALDI’S FOUR SEASONS

When: May 12th–14th

Where: Spreckels Theatre

City Ballet of San Diego will close its exciting season with two thrilling ballets by its extremely talented resident choreographers Elizabeth Wistrich and Geoff Gonzalez. The production began with Four Seasons, performed to Antonio Vivaldi most popular score, with the arrangement prepared by Max Richter. The production was world premiere of Geoff Gonzalez's fast-paced and innovative new ballet, which beautifully embodied the spirit of all four seasons, from the light-hearted and fast-paced "Spring" to the soulful "Winter," as dancers leap through falling snow. Though all four dances (and the interlude between fall and winter) work together as one, the individual seasons feature enough personality and strength to stand on their own.
