Did you make any resolutions at the start of the year? If so, it’s likely you’ve fallen off the wagon already. Please don’t worry if this is true. The reason it’s easy to guess you’ve failed is because millions of people are standing in your shoes.

Failing at anything can knock your confidence, especially if you usually succeed. You don’t want this year to be the one when you fall into a downward spiral. To prevent it you should do things to boost your happiness, which we’ll take a look at now.

Spend More Time with Your Friends

If you spend a lot of time on your own it’s easy to become lost. You can stop the decline by spending more time with your best friends. Also, the things you do with them should be a lot more exciting.

For example, if you’re having a party dress up in superhero costumes. Instead of sitting around drinking beer you can visit an indoor climbing center. If you don’t socialize you’ll come to regret it later.

Focus Energy Towards Your Passions

Lots of people enjoy many things, yet they avoid them at all costs. Let’s imagine your favorite passion in the world is playing the guitar. Instead of playing it for hours after work you’ll sit around watching TV.

You tell yourself the guitar is a few feet away so you’ll play it soon, but in the end you never do. It’s weird how the human mind works. Luckily, there are lots of ways you’ll be able to stop procrastinating.

Treat Yourself on a Regular Basis

One of the symptoms of mania is overspending. It makes people feel happy for a while. It isn’t the possessions you buy that make you happy. It’s the chemicals released into your brain putting a smile on your face.

You should start doing the exact same thing minus the overspending. Treat yourself on a regular basis to release those ‘happy’ chemicals. Also, you don’t need to spend a penny when treating yourself to some  experiences.

You Should Try to Achieve a Goal

We’re often accused of walking around like zombies. It’s actually not surprising when you think about it. If you’re not working towards a specific goal it’s pointless putting any kind of effort into life.

Maybe you want to become fluent in a second language. Lots of people want to become entrepreneurs these days. It doesn’t really matter what you do. Just wake up and move one step closer to your goal every day.

Your Thoughts Lead to Unhappiness

You wouldn’t actually feel bad because a fire burned a house down. However, you might feel bad because someone lost their home. If a tree was knocked over in the middle of a storm you wouldn’t give it a second thought.

When you see something bad happen it’s your thoughts that lead to unhappiness. It doesn’t mean you should aim to become emotionless, but there are things you can do. For example, don’t read newspapers if they upset you.

Save a Percentage of Your Earnings

Far too many people in the country don’t have any savings. Those who do still don’t have enough to look after themselves for more than a few months if something goes wrong. Talk about living on the edge.

Try your hardest to put 10 percent of your earnings into an emergency fund on a monthly basis. Even if it’s difficult it will definitely be worth it. Your happiness will increase if you feel more secure.

Maybe It’s the Meaning of Life

You will hear a lot of people say happiness is the meaning of life. It’s hard to argue with them when you feel on top of the world. If you don’t at the moment these tips should help you get there soon.
