Work can be rewarding but challenging, no matter what your occupation might be. Whether you spend your time calling companies and clients, roofing league city homes in hot Texas weather or punching away at a keyboard in your office, many of us work long and arduous days. While most people work at least a 40 hour week, others put in 50 or even 60 hours a week. All that work can become frustrating and beat your work ethic into the ground. To keep your mood up and relieve some stress, consider taking a much-needed vacation!
While some might feel too much work to be done to take an extended break, it can prove beneficial. Recharging your batteries and clearing your mind can keep your mind sharp and ready to tackle the next round of work, rather than continuing to slog through piles of papers and decrease in quality with each project completed. So if you’re going to go on a vacation, where should you go? What should you do? Should you stay in the country or explore another? With so many options, it can prove overwhelming. To help give you some ideas, here are a few of the best vacation ideas to get away with for a while and clear your mind.
Go to an Amusement Park
If you’re a fan of thrill rides and nostalgic scenery, the United States has some of the best theme parks in the entire world. There are smaller parks in each state if you’re looking for a quick but fun time, but if you want to go all out, there are parks that take multiple days to experience. Six Flags has several locations across the country and features the IPs of DC Comics along with Loony Toons. Maybe you would instead go to Universal Studios in Florida or California, which is an entirely different experience. You’ll see the rides based on popular movies, both new and classics, along with fabulous shows, shops, and scenery. Some of the biggest attractions include The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Marvel Island, and Jurassic Park. You can also find the likes of The Simpsons, The Mummy, Transformers, and more.
Still not enough for you? While you’re in California or Florida, why not also stop by Walt Disney World? Or Disney Land, if you’re in California. While kids will undoubtedly have a great time, adults will too! There are all kinds of classic Disney sites and certain Marvel attractions, Avatar and Star Wars. If you’re lucky, you might even see Mickey himself. Travel alone, go with your family, or bring some friends! Amusement parks are enjoyable no matter what.
Sunbathe at the Beach
If you want to get away and relax in the sun, going to the beach might benefit you more. There are countless beaches to choose from inside the country, where you can get a tan, play volleyball, swim, or even surf some waves. Depending on which location you visit, the coast will likely have plenty of other events to keep you entertained in between sleeping on the beach and building sandcastles with your kids. Some of the most popular beaches in the country include Miami Beach, Myrtle Beach, and Duke Kahanamoku Beach, to name a few. When you go outside of the country, the options are even grander. An alternative to the beach would be to visit a lake, which also offers fun activities like jet skiing and fishing--remember to bring your sunscreen.
Visit Cities and Sights
Are there some sights you’ve always wanted to see? Like the Golden Gate Bridge or Mount Rushmore? The Grand Canyon? How about heading to Washington DC to take in some of the country’s rich history, like touring The White House, The Washington Monument, The Smithsonian, and Capitol Hill. Down in Texas, you can visit The Alamo, where Texans fought for their independence from Mexico, plus there are all kinds of things to see and do to experience the state’s country culture, like barbecue, rodeos, and concerts. There’s also The Big Apple, New York City. This monstrously large city could be a vacation destination in itself, with an endless amount of things to keep you busy. You can take a tour of the town and see sights like the 9/11 Memorial, take a ferry to the Statue of Liberty, or visit one of the city’s many museums. You can explore catacombs on a night tour or walk the streets of Times Square and enjoy the nightlife. If you’ve got the energy left, you can catch a show on Broadway, which is highly recommended for anyone visiting New York. If you’d like to visit multiple locations across the US, one idea is to rent an RV and drive from coast to coast!
Travel Overseas
When you get away, you want to getaway. Buy a plane ticket and fly to a different country you’ve never been to before! Spend a week in Paris, where you can dine on some of the most delicious food in the world, visit the Eiffel Tower, and tour museums. Or perhaps you’d instead visit someplace a little farther south, like the exotic land of Australia. Here, you can see the gorgeous Great Barrier Reef, which comprises over 3,000 reef systems and several islands. The country is also home to many beautiful beaches and hiking trails, plus some of the world’s most famous zoos and the Sydney Opera House. Greece is another excellent location to visit, with things like touring the Acropolis, visiting the Delphi, admiring the Epidaurus Theater, or walking through the Hephaestus Temple. Balos Beach is stunning, as is the view from atop Mount Olympus. There are plenty of countries to visit, and these are only the tip of the iceberg.
Go on a sailing trip
Enjoy!
Hopefully, some of these options interest you enough to put in some PTO at work, but if not, there are several other options available. You could go skiing in the mountains, take a hunting trip, or even have a stay-cation at home! Sometimes all you need is some time to lounge around the house without work responsibilities nagging in the back of your mind. Whatever you choose to do for your vacation, the important thing is to have fun, relax and wipe your mind clean for the duration of your break. You’ll find that upon returning to work, your brain will feel ready to jump back in without a feeling of fatigue knocking on the door every day--at least not until your next vacation, that is.
