The Best Guide to the Biggest Trends of Spring-Summer 2019! And what you need to know!
The 2018 Spring-Summer fashion trends, are a fab mix of florals, pastels, sequins and evening glamour, and definitely awash with fun and fresh ideas.
And while Summer fashion may be a little far off your agenda at the moment, it won’t be long before we are all jetting off on holidays and going tights-free in pretty Summer dresses, so, it’s best to start thinking about it now. These were the key trends that hit the catwalks for Spring-Summer 2019! Prepare your wardrobe now, so you aren’t left behind. Here is our run down on what you need to know!
JUMPSUITS
We saw them in an elegant key at Gucci.
In a 70’s reinterpretation at Gucci, pastels at Sportmax, tres chic from Apiece Apart, and your boyfriend’s, but better at Public School.
Jumpsuits are going to be a staple item in our wardrobe this Spring, and can’t wait. There is going to be one for every taste and body shape!
SPORTSWEAR
Sportswear pieces and fabrics made an appearance on the runway in full looks or alongside skirts and silk dresses for a new take on athleisure of which some said this fashion month marked the end.
The jumpsuits at Dior, Fenty X Puma and Marc Jacobs recalled scuba-diving motocross and skiing suits.
Next Summer, rather than going out in your workout clothes, be more creative and mix and match them with the less sporty item in your closet.
DENIM ON DENIM
Will denim ever not be a trend?
Well, let’s just say this Season it’s going to be even more of a trend. Think head to toe denim looks-literally. At Elizabeth and James also the boots were made of denim.
At APC and Oscar de la Renta, the blue jeans and denim skirts were painted, while at Alexander Mc.Queen and Y/Project, the jeans jacket were deconstructed to create extra shapes and sartorial possibilities.
BRIGHT PINK
That bright pink broad shoulder jacket from Tom Ford worn by Mica Arzanaraz over and even brighter pink jumpsuit, marked the beginning of the fashion month for many of us. Little did we know that we would have seen that pink on many more runways!
Together with yellow, which is not going anywhere, pink is going to be one of the main colors this Spring-Summer 2019!
FANNY PACKS
We regret to inform you that fanny packs, were everywhere this fashion month and we are even sorrier to say that they looked pretty freaking cool.
We saw the brightest and sportiest fanny packs at Marc Jacobs and House of Holland, while many Designers reinterpreted the traditional fanny packs in a more contemporary and chic way.
See Gucci and Sportmax where the placement screamed fanny packs, but the bag itself was much chicer than your uncle’s belt bag.
FLORAL DRESSES ON SKIRTS
While this trend started from slip dresses worn over simple t-shirts, this fashion month we saw all sorts of dresses worn over all types of skirts, from silk dresses worn over sporty skirts at Off-White to floral dresses worn over leopard skirts at Balenciaga.
So, have some fun this Spring and mix and match your t-shirts, button downs and tops with your dresses for some new and exciting outfit!
PRINT ON PRINT
To remain in the theme of mixing and matching, another trend we are loving this Spring-Summer 2018, is the mixing of different prints and patterns in the same outfit. We saw some very good examples at Gucci, Marni, Mary Katrantzou, Dries Van Noten and Maison Margiela. This trend is pretty easy to follow. Use your creativity and judgment to put together different prints, that are very different, but somehow can go together.
SHEER DRESSES
Yes, you do need to be a bit bold to embrace this trend, but the good news is that there are all sorts of transparency and colors. You can go Missoni blue 80% transparent or Sonia Rykiel black almost completely see-through! We do Love many of these trends, because you don’t need to buy these items to follow them! You can just get inspired by the runway and adapt the trends you like the most for your wardrobe!
