Exploring Through San Francisco Trying Every Pastry

Hotspots In San Francisco

Exploring Through San Francisco, Trying Every Pastry You Can Imagine.

Not many know, but I am a Pastry Chef. I am a child at heart and love food and if that is not obvious, I am a Pastry Chef who dislikes all sweets. I am definitely not a sweets person; however, I do enjoy fresh pastry. Being that anything yeast raised is my biggest guilty pleasure, than you would definitely understand why I would do a pastry trail in San Francisco. As San Francisco is home to many of the hippies, it has some of the best pastries. Many of my friends come home each year and tell me about how delicious it is to just go through San Francisco.

As it is one of the places I have to visit before I leave California, I have got to say that every place I visit in San Francisco must have a croissant of some type. Here are a few European bakeries that have many of would I would eat any day of the week if I could. But, unfortunately trying to find a decent pastry shop here in San Diego has been very tough. I have only found one but I am not sure it could compare to any of these places in San Francisco.

Most of the pastry shops in San Francisco use whole ingredients and fresh ones too. This pastry shop located in downtown San Francisco uses fresh, wholesome, and organic ingredients. Did I mention they are gluten free and vegan free? Yes they are! Their name is Wholesome Bakery and just by the looks of their pastries, they look delectable. And even though I am not really a sweets person, I think I would enjoy their passion and drive for great pastries!

The next place in San Francisco that gets my little eye is B. Patisserie. This bakery located quite a few blocks from Wholesome Bakery, serves yeast raised items. Yes! Bread! They sell items like Danish and scones. Scones obviously not being yeast raised, but they are still pretty yummy. Just by the looks of their photos on their website, everything looks pretty scrumptious to me.

One other bakery in the heart of San Francisco is Mariposa Baking. They specialize in gluten free pastries and also sell items that are "yeast raised" but are gluten free. Its quite unique if you ask me. Well not unique, but very intriguing because not may pastry shops take on the fact of gluten free. However, with gluten free becoming up and coming and many are being diagnosed with either celiac or gluten intolerance, many of their places are popping up more and more. And its neat to see gluten free pastry shops popping up in San Francisco.

If you had to ask me, I think these places are the best hotspots in San Francisco because they are pastry based. Who doesn’t love pastries? But also, because the pastry scene in San Francisco is very up and coming as well!
