There are golf courses where you remember your score, and then there are golf courses where you couldn't care less what you shot because the scenery was simply that spectacular.

Quivira Golf Club in Los Cabos, Mexico, falls squarely into the second category.

Looking back at photographs from my 2018 visit, I found one of myself walking down a beautifully manicured fairway, golf club in hand, with the Pacific Ocean stretching endlessly before me. The sunshine, the dramatic coastline, and that incredible feeling of being somewhere special all come through in that single photograph.

I'll admit, eight years later I don't remember every detail of the trip. But sometimes photographs have a wonderful way of reminding you why a destination captured your attention in the first place.

And Quivira has certainly given travelers plenty of new reasons to take notice.

What began as an extraordinary golf and resort destination has continued evolving into a luxury coastal community, with beautiful residences, sophisticated resort experiences, and ambitious developments still on the horizon.

For those who love Cabo's sunshine, spectacular scenery, and wonderfully relaxed approach to life, Quivira offers something increasingly appealing: the possibility of enjoying that vacation lifestyle long after the vacation is over.

The Golf Course That Makes You Forget About Your Score

I love a beautiful golf course, but there's something about playing alongside the Pacific that makes the game feel entirely different. At Quivira, the scenery isn't simply a backdrop. It's part of the experience.

Designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in 2014, the Quivira Golf Club winds through desert terrain, dramatic elevations, and oceanfront cliffs. The 7,085-yard championship layout offers views of the Pacific from every hole and has earned recognition among Golf Digest's World's 100 Greatest Golf Courses.

Looking at my photographs now, I'm reminded of how enormous the ocean feels from the course. There's something rather wonderful about standing over a golf ball while the Pacific stretches out behind you. Whether your next shot is spectacular or ends up somewhere you'd rather not discuss, at least the scenery never disappoints.

Access to the course is reserved for Quivira residents and eligible guests staying at Pueblo Bonito resorts in Los Cabos, adding another attraction for those considering a longer stay or a home in the community.

Luxury Living With a Distinctly Baja Personality

Quivira is not simply a golf resort. It's a master-planned coastal community where residential living and hospitality share the same spectacular landscape.

Neighborhoods including Copala, Mavila, Coronado, and Alvar offer different interpretations of the Cabo lifestyle. Copala draws from Mexican hacienda architecture, while Mavila offers a village-inspired atmosphere. Coronado's single-story estates feature ocean and golf course views, and Alvar introduces contemporary residences with generous indoor-outdoor living spaces.

The Old Lighthouse Club takes advantage of Quivira's striking coastal bluffs and dunes, with views that make its location particularly appealing. For prospective owners, the range of residences means the conversation can extend beyond square footage and finishes to how they actually want to spend their time in Cabo.

Where Resort Living Becomes an Everyday Luxury

For me, a memorable luxury destination has to offer more than a beautiful room. It needs atmosphere, good food, interesting experiences, and places where you're perfectly happy doing absolutely nothing.

Quivira benefits from its connection to the Pueblo Bonito resorts. The adults-only Pueblo Bonito Pacifica offers a more intimate oceanfront experience, while Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach provides a larger resort setting overlooking the Pacific. Montecristo Estates adds private villa accommodations for travelers seeking more space.

What makes the combination appealing is the flexibility. You might spend a morning playing golf, enjoy a leisurely lunch overlooking the coastline, and finish the day with an elegant dinner. Or skip the golf entirely and spend the afternoon relaxing beside a pool. Nobody is keeping score on vacation—unless, of course, you're actually on the golf course.

The Next Chapter Includes St. Regis

Another important part of Quivira's evolution is the planned St. Regis Los Cabos, a luxury hospitality and residential development intended to bring the brand's signature service to the community.

The project adds an interesting dimension to Quivira's future, particularly for travelers and prospective homeowners interested in branded residences and elevated hospitality. Its opening schedule has shifted, so a final opening date should be confirmed directly with the development team before travel arrangements are made.

Rather than viewing Quivira as a finished destination, I find it more interesting to see it as a community that continues to evolve. The golf course and established resorts are already part of its identity. The newer residential offerings and planned developments suggest there's more to come.

A Place Worth Rediscovering

My 2018 photographs have been a wonderful reminder of what first caught my attention about Quivira. The oceanfront golf is dramatic, the scenery is unforgettable, and the combination of natural beauty and resort amenities gives the community a distinct character.

Of course, photographs can't tell the entire story of how a destination has changed over eight years. That's precisely why Quivira deserves another look. Between its expanding residential communities, established hospitality offerings, and future plans, there's considerably more to explore than a single round of golf.

Los Cabos will always have its glamorous resorts, lively evenings, and beautiful beaches. Quivira offers another perspective: the possibility of enjoying that vacation feeling as part of everyday life.

And if you're anything like me, you might arrive thinking you're simply going to enjoy a little golf and sunshine, only to find yourself imagining what it would be like to stay longer.
