Historical Journey on the Kit Carson Trail

Kit Carson Trial 1

Following the recommendations of our Visitor Center guide, we started our journey by walking, The Kit Carson Trail.  The trail provides a rich historical narrative of Carson City, marked by its distinctive blue line and informative plaques. On this 2.5-mile walking path, you’ll encounter landmarks such as the Ferris Mansion, home to the inventor of the Ferris wheel, and the Rinckel Mansion, a splendid example of Victorian-era opulence. The Governor's Mansion, with its imposing structure and well-kept gardens, offers a glimpse into the political history and residential architecture of Nevada’s capital.  This is a great warm afternoon activity that is self guided and you can enjoy at your own pace.  Be sure to download the Kit Carson Trail app, as it will narrate the history behind each home and gives a little glimpse into the political inner workings during the early days of Nevada history.

The homemade sourdough bread, made from a 100-year-old starter kit owned by the restaurateurs, is a testament to the care and tradition infused in every dish.

The heart and soul of Piazza's culinary prowess is its homemade sourdough bread, a recipe perfected with a sourdough starter that's over a century old. This bread, with its tangy flavor and perfect crust, is a testament to the restaurant's dedication to traditional methods and quality ingredients, offering a taste of history in every bite. Piazza's menu is a reflection of seasonal availability and culinary creativity. The lamb pops, a house favorite, are praised for their succulent flavor and expert preparation. The braised short ribs, especially favored in the winter months, are a showcase of slow-cooked perfection, melting tenderly at first taste. Each dish is a narrative of flavors, thoughtfully composed to highlight the freshness of the local produce, much of which is sourced from the Carson City Farmer’s Market. A standout experience is the seared ahi, which a coastal California guest once praised as one of the best. Such accolades are a testament to Piazza's culinary excellence and its ability to impress even those with discerning tastes.

Wine

The wine list at Piazza is as thoughtful as its menu, with selections that complement the Italian cuisine and enhance the dining experience. Each bottle is carefully chosen to pair with the robust flavors of the dishes, ensuring a harmonious blend of tastes and textures.  But Piazza's allure extends beyond its food and drink. The restaurant's commitment to providing a super accommodating service is evident in its friendly staff, who go above and beyond to ensure each guest's experience is exceptional. Their attentiveness and warmth contribute to the restaurant's comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere, making diners feel truly valued and cared for.
