Bridal fashion this season is defined by bold statements with color and volume. From incorporating black into dresses to upping the volume with ruffles, there's a new design for any brides’ tastes. Feminine brides can opt for three dimensional flowers while fashion forward thinking brides can be daring with deep v-neck designs or extreme sleeves. Here are the top trends this season that will have you walking down the aisle in style.

Capes and Capelets

One of the biggest trends to make it on the runway this year were wedding dresses adorned with capes and capelets. The overall look gives off a traditional and modest vibe. While many designers have showcased sheer capes, others have styled brides in heavier fabric. Brides can choose to have intricate floral designs sewed in with beading on the capes to add sparkle and detail across the shoulders.

Incorporating Black

Black is also making a bold impression in wedding fashion. A pop of the dark color is being used to accessorize white dresses. Expect to see black belts, gloves and jewelry on brides walking down the aisle. Some brides are even choosing to wear all black wedding dresses on their big day. The trend is meant to add an elegant pop of color to wedding couture.

Pale Blue Wedding Dresses

Brides don’t have to limit themselves to the color white or even black this bridal season. Millennial pink and easter egg blue are also both trending. The most eye catching dress this season in blue was spotted on Reem Acra’s runway. The gold-embroidered princess gown looks like it came out of the pages of a fairytale.

High Neck

Dresses with high collars are making their way down the runway. Scalloped lace necklines can give your dress an antiquey feel. If you want to go in the modern direction, satin high neck lines create a more sleek look. To accessorize look for statement earrings. For your hair, wear an updo style to prevent the fabric from looking overwhelming.

Bows for Volume

Oversize bows are a staple on many wedding dresses coming down the aisle this season. Simple dresses are pumped with volume with the addition of a simple knot. Large bows on the train add drama to the backs of dresses. You can add a bow sash to accentuate your waist and add volume. Since the bow becomes the focal point of the dress, wear simple jewelry to compliment it.

Detachable Skirts

Designers are now creating dresses with more versatility. The detachable skirt style that is trending helps brides who can’t decide whether to go for volume or sleekness. More brides are now opting to forgo dress shopping for separate shopping. Ivory colored suits are designed to showcase the bride on her special day. Don’t be surprised either if you see wedding jumpsuits arrive on the scene. Several designers including Viktor & Rolf displayed some at their shows earlier this year. Laid back wedding fashion is on point in 2018.

Extreme Sleeves

Wedding dresses with sleeves emanate elegance and sophistication. This year the style is going a step further with added volume on the arms becoming the focal point of dresses. Wider sleeves on wedding dresses give off a bohemian style look. Pouffier sleeves add an element of dramatic flair to simple gowns. Dresses are also being designed this year with sleeves that go past the hands.

Deep V-Necks

While it’s still in fashion to have an open back designed wedding dress, a plunging neckline is now in style too. V-neck plunges are trending in wedding fashion. Brides can create the illusion of a V-neck or opt for dresses that do actually dive down. Just make sure to purchase fashion tape to pull off the look.

Cascading Ruffles

Ruffles can help create an ultra-feminine look in wedding apparel. Allover ruffles add dimension to a form fitting dress. They can also cascade down wedding dresses to create a fuller skirt. Ruffles add a whimsical and fashion forward element to any dress.

Off the Shoulder

The strapless gown trend has now been replaced by the off the shoulder look. The style elevates simple wedding dresses. Designers implemented the style on dresses with traditional open necklines and more daring cutouts. Overall the trend creates a timeless and classic look that won’t make you cringe when you look back at pictures.
