January is a great time to set goals on how you want your space to look. Due to it being winter, it is not the ideal time to start planting outdoors. By planning and researching inspiration yards you can grasp a better idea of how to transform your outdoor space in the upcoming months. Although outdoor gardening is currently off the table, adding indoor plants to your home is an option. Purchasing tropical indoor plants for your home is a great way to improve air quality. When considering the toxic compounds from paint and wallpaper, cleaning products, furniture, pollen, mold, bacteria, and in poorly ventilated homes, you will be thankful for houseplants. Indoor plants help to purify air and reduce harmful particulates in the air, as they absorb carbon dioxide to photosynthesize fresh oxygen.

Interested in growing your vegetables? February is a great time to plant tomatoes and other vegetable seeds in peat pots. Peat pots are a great way to reduce your use of plastic and are made out of repurposed toilet paper rolls and are therefore biodegradable. Another great gardening tip for the month of February is to start growing salad greens and herbs indoors with seed-starting trays. This is a great way to get ready for planting your herbs and greens outdoors come springtime. As for the outdoors, if you have a lawn that is exposed, this is a recommended time to apply pre-emergent to prevent weed growth in your lawn.
March

March is a great time to build raised garden beds and cultivate vegetable garden beds. Garden beds are a great way to grow small plots of vegetables and flowers. Keeping pathway weeds away from your garden soil. Garden beds are also a great way to prevent contact and provide good drainage while serving as a barrier to pests such as slugs and snails. March is also a great time to perform a soil test in your garden and amend the soil with compost, making sure your soil has the perfect balance from whatever you're trying to grow during this time and the months that follow. Applying fertilizer to help repair and seed bare patches is suggested, for the harsh winter may make it challenging for regrowth for plants from the following year. You can also start applying spring flowers and shrubs that will grow in the months to come such as azaleas.
