What Are the Different Kinds of THC Drops?

THC has become a highly in-demand health supplement. The most common way to consume THC in the past was to smoke or vape marijuana, but not everyone finds that to be a pleasant or convenient activity. While you can get THC in other kinds of products, like edibles, there are good reasons to use a dropper bottle instead.

The best and easiest way to take THC is sublingual, where you put drops under your tongue. The skin under your tongue absorbs it very quickly, so it can get into your bloodstream faster than just by ingesting it. It’s also much safer and more pleasant than smoking or vaping.

You should also know that there are three different kinds of THC drops that you can take. While they are very similar, there are some crucial differences you should know about. Here is a quick guide to the three types of THC drops you can get.

THC Oil

THC oil is the most common form of drops that you will find on the market, as it’s the form THC takes once it goes through the extraction and refinement process to separate it from a cannabis plant. It uses an inert carrier oil as the base to carry the THC compounds.

The most common type of carrier oil used for THC products is medium-chain triglyceride coconut oil. It is affordable to use in mass quantities and has a good bioavailability (meaning it’s easier for your body to absorb).

THC Tincture

THC tincture is the same as THC oil, except it uses an alcohol base instead of an oil base. There are three main reasons why using an alcohol base instead of oil makes sense:

  • Alcohol has a higher bioavailability level than oil, so it is more efficiently absorbed into your body
  • Tinctures like delta 8 wind up being a bit cheaper than oil
  • Tinctures typically taste better than oil, which can be a bit bitter and earthy

It is worth noting that THC oil typically has a higher potency than tinctures. This is because it has gone through less processing to infuse the THC with the alcohol and requires fewer steps to get THC oil from the natural plant.

THC Isolate

The least common form of THC drops that you will find THC isolate. This is typically a more concentrated and water-soluble form of THC that goes through much more processing and refinement than either the oil or tinctures.

You may want to remove more of the other cannabinoids and compounds from cannabis, so you are left with only the THC. The processing also results in the THC being in the form of a concentrated crystal, which can be turned into powder and turned into water-soluble drops. That can make it easier to mix in with drinks while adding more potency.

The version of THC drops you prefer will depend on the reason you want to take them. If you want a simple and easy product that gives you all the benefits of THC, you can take the oil drops. If you don’t like the taste of the oil drops and want to save a few bucks, you can take the tincture. If you want something more concentrated or want to mix it in with drinks, you can use the THC isolate drops.
