Southern Hospitality:

Why Is Southern Hospitality So Unique And Forthgoing?

While living in Williamsburg, Virginia, the one thing I can remember like the back of my hand is the southern hospitality. Not too far down south, but quite a few hours away from New York, I had taken my first job at America’s oldest school, William and Mary. Southern Hospitality was the one thing I have to say was well known from every employee that worked or lived in the area.

The south is known for hospitality and more or so showcasing little get togethers every so often. I had the opportunity to stand beneath some of my acquaintances and to receive such hospitality; as it is what they are known for.  Even though many think some in the south are too nice, it is their culture. They are nice, sweet, or whatever word you want to use because of the way they express their feelings. They hold each other up and are really there for one another. It is something so valuable.  Many people from the New York area do not see eye to eye the southern hospitality niceness. Having experienced southern hospitality was like no other. That might explain why I enjoy entertaining so much. Well actually, I have never really had many opportunities to do so, but when I do, I resort back to how those in my previous neighborhood treated me. Each person was treated with respect and was made sure their value and success was treated as so.

I believe you know you have the perfect southern hospitality when you can showcase everything I have previously spoken about. These are the most important ones many look forward to on a daily basis when visiting. Southern hospitality is base off of politeness, good home cooking, kindness, helpfulness, charm, and charity.

All of these values take their name is southern hospitality and very valued on the way they are presented and perceived. Many of my friends back in Virginia are definitely valued because of their southern hospitality, but more or so their charity. As one friend truly takes their charity to the next level – they serve in their church and have for many years, as well as, opening up her home to many from the church whom are looking for an open getaway to just relax and chat.

Clearly, this is what southern hospitality means to most and I am so very grateful I had the joy of experiencing it while I lived in this very state. And this state is truly known for Love. As it says in its name Virginia is for lovers and it is also known for the tremendous amount of hospitality that is shown from within and beneath everything that has happened in history. Overall it is still truly one of my favorite parts of the United States but that is because I have only been exposed to this part of the world at an open view.
