Open up your world to the World of Watercolor. For the seventh year in a row, the Fallbrook Art Center is presenting its Signature American Watermedia Exhibition in the Janice Griffiths Gallery from February 7th to March 20th. The show will be presented along with the selected pieces from the 95th annual International Watercolor Society Exhibition.
Fallbrook Art Center calls itself a distinguished, accessible and welcoming non–profit visual arts center, located in historic downtown Fallbrook. The Janice Griffiths Gallery is the main exhibition space in the Fallbrook Art Center. The gallery was named after Janice Griffiths, a passionate art lover, who was a large part of the art community in Fallbrook. After surviving longer than doctors expected, Griffiths lost her battle with cancer in 2005. The gallery was named in her honor in October 2006.
The Watermedia Exhibition will feature 90 paintings selected by juror John Salminen, AWS–DF, NWS.
With more than 230 major awards in national and international exhibitions under his belt, Salminen has an exquisite taste for great art pieces. Salminen is a notable member of art societies like the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, the Watercolor USA Honor Society, the Transparent Watercolor Society of America and Allied Artist. He is also an honorary member of the Jiangsu Watercolor Research institute in China and is the first American to be included in the Australian Watercolor Institute.
He has served as judge or juror of over 65 national and international exhibitions for the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, the International Watercolor Society and the Shenzhen Biennial. He was also a Judge of Awards for the Annual Competition of Artist’s Magazine and Watercolor Magic.
Salminen has released two instructional DVDs through Creative Catalyst Productions and has his work displayed in many private, public and corporate collections of fine arts. His representation is by the Stremmel Gallery in Reno, Nevada.
The 2015 Travel Exhibition will be featured as well in World of Watercolor. There will be 31 paintings from the annual NWS Exhibition. Amongst the 71 paintings in the NWS Exhibition, selected by jurors David Poxon, Soon Y. Warren and Judi Betts, less than half are chosen to travel around the country to be displayed in prestigious art galleries. In the past, Saliminen has had his work included in the exhibition.
The Fallbrook Art Center is located at 103 South Main at Alvarado, Fallbrook, CA 92028. Admission to the exhibition is free to all Member Levels and Art Center patrons and $6 admission for others. Exhibitions are open daily from Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 3 p.m. More information in regards to the exhibition can be found at Fallbrook Art Center or by phone at (760) 728-1414.
