Are you planning to visit Sydney soon? Then you should start planning your travel itinerary now. Since Sydney has thousands of tourist spots, you cannot cover them all without a plan. If you are a beach lover, there is no way you can miss these six Sydney beaches that offer some of the best experiences in the world.
You can pick an accommodation that is close to these beaches so that you can enjoy the beautiful sunrise. Some Airbnb options, like Oasis Airbnb management and hotels and resorts, may give you a better deal if you book early. Avoid going there during the Australian Summer (Dec-Feb), as it is the peak time for visitors.
1. Bondi Beach
If you love to surf and swim, Bondi is the first beach you should visit in Sydney. There is a lot to do in the soft golden sand of Bondi, which stretches for a kilometer. It is quite popular among tourists for the spectacular coastal walk to Bronte. Also, you can enjoy Sculpture by the Sea and find some of the finest restaurants in the country near Bondi Beach. If you are there on a Sunday, you can go to the Bondi market and get handmade jewelry and art pieces.
2. Manly Beach
This is another iconic beach in Sydney that attracts thousands of tourists each year. You can enjoy surfing, swimming, and snorkeling here as well. Just a 30-minute ferry ride from Sydney’s Circular Quay, Manly is known for its friendly beach vibes. If you visit Sydney in February, you can enjoy the Australian Open of Surfing competition. You too can take surfing lessons from local surf shops and improve your wave riding skills.
3. Coogee Beach
If you want some calmness, this 400-meter-long beach is the perfect place for you. For trek lovers, the Bondi to Coogee Trail offers a 6 km walk by the coast. There are plenty of historical buildings and parks to explore near this beach. You can also find several rock pools. It is a popular choice for people traveling with families. The playground and lawns at the adjacent Grant Reserve offer plenty of space for kids.
4. Palm Beach
This beach is located at the tip of the Northern Beaches peninsula. The 2.3 km shoreline is considered Sydney’s prettiest beach by many. While you can enjoy all the surfing activities here, you will also find kayaking, a lighthouse walk, cruises, markets, a golf course, and more. You can also find some of the finest restaurants near Palm Beach, including the famous Barrenjoey House.
5. Bronte Beach
Just 3 km from Bondi Beach, this is ideal for picnics and family outings. If you are done enjoying the soft sands of Bronte, you can go to the adjacent part that has barbeque facilities, shaded areas to relax, and a playground. Also, you can surf here in peace, as it is less crowded than Bondi. However, the stronger waves at this beach are ideal for experienced surfers. You can also find a string of restaurants and cafes near the beach.
6. Freshwater Beach
This one is located just North of Manly Beach. The gentle, reliable waves are ideal for amateur surfers. It is less touristy when compared to the other beaches listed in this article. However, it is one of the most popular beaches in Sydney for families. It also has a long history of surf club culture. You may witness a few swim events at Freshwater Beach. You can also perform freestyle swimming at the 50m ocean pool at the north end of the beach.
Since most of these beaches are close to each other, you can cover a few of them in a single day. Also, if you are looking for some delicious seafood, there are plenty of popular restaurants near these beaches. As long as you have planned your visit to Sydney, you will have enough time to enjoy the coastal life.
