It doesn't matter whether you consider yourself the family handyman or a DIY enthusiast who's always working on some project. Having tools around the house is very important for everyone because you never know when something will break.Â
This doesn't mean that you should own every kind of tool there is; however, you should at least have the essentials at hand, just in case anything happens. Here are the most useful tools you should keep around in your shed.
Claw Hammer
Having a claw hammer in your toolkit is a must; you can't survive adulthood without one of those. A claw hammer will help you put furniture together, hang paintings on the wall, and fix any loose nails around the house. If you're out there trying to find the necessary tools for your house, a claw hammer should be the first on your list.Â
Saw Blades
If you have a circular or metal-cutting saw, you might not think that an additional saw blade is something that you need to spend your money on. However, if you have to gather wood to keep your house warm during the chilly winter months, then you'll want to own a couple of metal saw blades that can help you cut through the logs so that you can quickly put them into the fireplace. You can also use them to cut through other hard materials, including metals, so you must have a couple of different ones around.Â
Swiss Knife
One of the essential tools that you need to have is a swiss knife. As you may have already heard, this knife is incredibly useful due to the wide range of applications it offers. You're not only getting a blade with a swiss knife, but you're also getting tweezers, scissors, toothpick, nail file, corkscrew, and so much more. Other models come with additional tools like a can opener, screwdriver, awl, bottle opener, and a larger corkscrew. However, these extra tools are typically found in larger swiss knives only.
Screwdrivers
Finally, you can't go out shopping for gear and not come back with a couple of different screwdrivers. These tools are so handy that you can't have at least one set of them in your house. The best thing to do is to buy two sets of different-sized screwdrivers. You can use the smaller ones to fix things like a loose nail on a pair of glasses or remove the back cover off, get your phone or watch to improve the battery, for instance.
All in all, having different tools in your house is a necessity. You need to be prepared if something falls or breaks at your place or if you wanted to take on a new DIY project. If you're not sure about the kinds of tools you need, you might want to start with a swiss knife, a couple of saw blades, screwdrivers, and a claw hammer. Once you're done assembling an essential toolkit, you can add more tools to your arsenal as you see fit.Â
