As summer gives way to cooler coastal breezes, Encinitas is getting ready to kick off the fall season in true Bavarian style. Mark your calendars—Sunday, September 28, 2025—for the 29th Annual Encinitas Oktoberfest and Artisan Faire, presented by the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce and Visit Encinitas. This free, family- and pet-friendly event runs from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. along Mountain Vista Drive and promises a vibrant day filled with mouthwatering food, live music, unique shopping, and plenty of Gemütlichkeit (that’s German for warm, friendly cheer). So Raise Your Stein and Grab Fido’s Lederhosen Because Encinitas is getting ready to have a good time.
More Brews, More Barks, More Bavarian Fun

Now in its 29th year, this lively celebration has become the premier Oktoberfest event in San Diego County, drawing over 15,000 visitors each year. This year, it's bigger, better—and bolder—with two lively beer gardens, more than 125 artisan vendors, live performances, and even a dog costume contest that’s too cute to miss.
Back by popular demand, the Moonlight Veterinary Center Dog Costume Contest returns for its second year, inviting pups of all sizes to strut their stuff in lederhosen and dirndls. Furry contestants will compete for fun prizes and serious Instagram glory.
Sips, Steins, and Tacos (Yes, Tacos!)
Beer lovers can sample both authentic German brews and San Diego’s best local craft options in two separate beer gardens. This year, look for favorites from Societe Brewing Company, Burgeon Beer Co., RationAle Brewing, Fox Point Brewing Company, and Bivouac Cider.

New this year is Tap Truck, pouring beers from a tricked-out 1921 Buick, adding vintage flair to your frosty pour. And if beer isn't your thing, never fear—hard ciders, German wines, and non-alcoholic refreshments will keep everyone hydrated.
Bonus: The first 500 visitors to the Craft Beer Tent will get a free taco from Craft Coast Beer & Tacos, perfectly pairing the best of SoCal with Bavarian brews.
Tastes of Tradition
You’ll want to come hungry. Food tents will serve up sizzling bratwurst, crispy schnitzel, warm Bavarian pretzels, and authentic offerings from Tarantino’s Gourmet Sausage and Taste of Poland. Whether you’re craving something savory or sweet, you’ll find plenty to nosh on between beers and shopping sprees.
Live Music, Dancing, and Daring Feats of Stein-Holding
At noon, a ceremonial parade launches the festivities, with traditional costumes, Bavarian oompah music, and vibrant dancers setting the tone. Throughout the day, enjoy:
Traditional German music
Performances by The Gemütlichkeit Alpine Dancers
A featured set by Our Song Band
A DJ spinning tunes in the Craft Beer Garden
Encinitas Ballet performances
Roaming street performers adding surprise moments to your stroll
Ready to test your strength? Enter the always-popular Stein Holding Contest—there are brackets for adults and kids, with prizes donated by local businesses and attractions.
Family Fun Zone Sponsored by Bright Kids
The kiddos aren’t left out—Bright Kids is sponsoring an activity-packed zone with inflatable slides, an obstacle course, games, and a rock-climbing wall that’ll keep young adventurers busy and smiling.
Artisan Faire with Local Flair
Along a third of a mile of Mountain Vista Drive, over 125 local vendors will display handmade goods, jewelry, home decor, and more. It’s the perfect chance to support small businesses while shopping for unique holiday gifts—or just treating yourself.
Easy to Get To, Easy on the Planet
Thanks to the City of Encinitas, you’ll find bike valets on both ends of the festival. If you’re driving, park at Flora Vista Elementary School and hop on the free shuttle, running all day thanks to sponsorship from D Street Boardroom. And for eco-conscious guests, water refill stations are available throughout the grounds—so bring that reusable bottle and sip sustainably.
A Nod to History with Coastal California Vibes
Encinitas Oktoberfest honors the city’s deep-rooted German heritage. The northeastern community of Olivenhain was founded by German farmers in 1884, and each year, this festival brings that history to life with a modern, coastal twist.
“Encinitas Oktoberfest brings the best of Bavaria to the California coast and is the perfect way to kick off the fall season,” says Sherry Yardley, CEO of the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce and Visit Encinitas. “Whether you’re a long-time resident or a visitor, this event offers a unique blend of tradition, community, and entertainment that you won’t want to miss.”
Prost to Fall!
Whether you come for the beer, the bratwurst, the dancing, or the doggie dirndls, the Encinitas Oktoberfest on September 28 is the must-attend event to welcome autumn with open arms—and a full stein. Admission is free, parking is easy, and fun is guaranteed.
