Pests are pests, no matter what they are. Whether it's a mouse in your kitchen or an infestation of beetles on your carpet, pests can be a considerable nuisance and health hazard for you and your family. Luckily - there are some proven ways to get rid of these pests without any hassle!

In this blog post, we will cover eight different pest control methods that have been used successfully by countless others before you.

Clean Up

One of the most critical pests to get rid of is pests that are already in your home. To do this, you should start by getting a vacuum cleaner and cleaning clutter from every room - especially closets, behind furniture, and under beds. If there's an area where pests have been living or nesting before (like under kitchen sinks), then vacuum those places well.

Next, clean up anything that pests could eat - like crumbs or pet food on the floor, countertops, and dining tables. Cleaning up will discourage pests from coming into your home, from beginning with! If problems are already living on your walls or roof, then you may need to call an exterminator for exceptional help. It would be best if you also took this time to deep clean your kitchen, including washing dishes and wiping down all surfaces.

Use an Approved Insecticide

The best way to get rid of pests is with a poison that will kill them and their offspring. An insecticide should be placed strategically around the perimeter or "borders" where pests are currently living - like on your countertops or under your sink. The next step you can take is using an approved pesticide in all cracks, crevices, or any other pests hiding places.

This is a great time to vacuum your floor and carpets again as well! If you're not sure where pests are living in your home - then start by checking out these areas: behind sink cabinets, under fridge doors, around pipes and vents for air conditioners/heating units, on window sills, in closets, and behind doors. Once pests are found, you should spray them with an approved insecticide or use a unique bait to tempt pests into eating it (and die).

Homemade Bait

Another excellent way to get rid of pests is with homemade bait. You can use things like bananas, peanut butter, oatmeal, and flour - or you could also combine these ingredients (a "bait ball") in water for an even more potent mixture! Once the pests are eating this bait, they will become ill very quickly and die off.

If pests are still a problem in your home, then you should place the bait where they're currently living - like under sinks or on window sills. If pests continue to eat this bait without dying off quickly enough, then you can add more poison (like an approved insecticide) into the mixture as well.

Less Water

One more way to get pests out of your home is by providing them with less water. To do this, you should start by removing standing water or wet plants from the outside perimeter around your house - these are pests' favorite places.

You can also remove any other objects that hold much water - like weed-eaters and buckets used for gardening. This DIY pest control method discourages pests from coming to your home or staying in the area for long periods. If pests are already living inside (like under kitchen sinks), you may need to call an exterminator for exceptional help with this pest control method.

Seal Up Any Cracks or Holes in Your Home's Foundation

The pests in your home need to be the priority, as they will continue to breed and make pests an even bigger problem - without any help from you! Take this time to clean up, sweep floors, vacuum carpets, or rugs again for a fresh start.

If pests are still a problem in your home, you should call a pest control company for help. They will be able to come and evaluate the pests in your area and provide any necessary services like extermination or deep cleaning of areas with pests currently living on them.

Keep Food Sealed, Stored Away, and Off the Ground

Keeping pests out of your home is easier than you think. It would be best if you start by removing all food from counters and other surfaces - to prevent pests that are looking for a "meal." This includes storing pet food in airtight containers or on the floor, as pests will eat anything!

If pests have already found their way into your home - then it's time to do a deep cleaning of all surfaces they're currently living on. This includes under sinks, cupboards, and around pipes/vents for air conditioners or heating units - as pests are attracted to these areas more often than others.

Install Screens on Windows to Keep Out Insects

It is essential to have other preventive measures in your home, including installing screens on windows and doors to keep insects away. You can also place a screen door in front of your home's main entrance to keep pests from entering through the cracks and crevices.

If pests continue to come inside, then you should call an exterminator for help with prevention methods - or if pests are already living on surfaces throughout your house, then it may be time to have them exterminated.

Remove Dead Vegetation Around Your Compound

If your house is surrounded by dead vegetation, including tree logs, then pests will find this an attractive area to live. Therefore, it is essential to remove dead foliage and dispose of it away from your home.

If pests are still a problem in their new location, you may need to call an exterminator to help with pest control methods. This ensures they are removed, and preventive measures are made to avoid them coming to your house again.

Sometimes, you can't just get rid of the insects. You have to remove what attracted them in the first place! Keep your home and garden clean by getting rid of any dead vegetation around your compound or inside it; if there are cracks or holes in your foundation, seal those up ASAP. Remove food sources like fruit on the ground underneath trees and keep all garbage sealed up, so nothing is attracting pests outside either. Make sure screens are installed on windows if they aren't already.
