Love Watching Movies? Here Are Some Streaming Services You Didn't Know About

Mention streaming platforms to anyone, and their minds will immediately shift to Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu. These three giants were the pioneers of streaming services, and they still command a massive share of viewers to date. Statista reports that Netflix alone has over 207.6 million subscribers.

However, the three platforms are not the only streaming services in the world. There are at least 20 other platforms, some of which offer excellent and high-definition content. In this review, we will be looking at six of the less available streaming services that are worth checking out:

1. Crackle

Crackle is an excellent choice for all lovers of classic movies. This streaming service is free of charge, allowing you to enjoy some of the best 80s, 90s, and early 2000s movies like Stir Crazy, In the Line of Fire, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

It also has around 75 TV shows and some modern original content like Snatch and Start-Up.

The Sony-owned streaming platform is available on Android TVs, LG’s WebOS, Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku, Web Browsers, Playstation 4, Xbox, and mobile devices like iPhones and Android smartphones.

Crackle comes with a few drawbacks that are worth highlighting. For starters, the platform is ad-supported, which means you’ll have to sit through numerous commercials while watching some of these shows. Secondly, the content rotates quite frequently, so you have to complete a show you like fast before it’s removed from the catalog.

2. Acorn TV

Acorn TV is an excellent choice for all lovers of Ireland, British and Australian Tv shows. At roughly 50 titles per month, the platform’s catalog is far from extensive, but it does have some diverse shows like Striking Out, Midsomer Murders, Foyle’s War, and 19-2.

Acorn TV also provides original content like The Witness for the Prosecution and Loch Ness.

The streaming service is available on Samsung Smart TVs, Desktop, Android, Roku, Chromecast, Amazon Fire Tv, Apple Tv, and iOS.

Acorn has a monthly subscription of $5.99. You can also make an annual payment of $59.99 and save a few dollars.

One of the significant drawbacks of Acorn TV is that the resolution of most shows is capped at 720p.

3. Fubo TV

Love Watching Movies? Here Are Some Streaming Services You Didn't Know About

FuboTV is perfect for anyone who wants to catch sports and tv shows on the same platform. The streaming service brings live NFL games and NBA playoffs to your living room through ESPN, ABC, and TNT.

It also has Fox, NBC, MTV, National Geographic, AMC, USA, and FX, which provide entertaining tv shows, movies, and docuseries.

At $65 per month, Fubo TV is quite pricey. On the brighter side, you are getting tons of channels plus 4K streaming on select content. The platform also has Cloud DVR features and Lookback that allow you to catch up on great content you may have missed.

4. Zee5

Zee5 is a popular option for all Bollywood fans; the Indian streaming platform has hundreds of TV shows, movies, anime, and even Live TV networks. It boasts big titles like Commando, Line of Descent, The Tashkent Files, Banjo, etc. They also add new content regularly, with most labels showing in full HD.

So, is the streaming service available in India alone? Okay, technically, it is, but we live in an era where geo-restrictions are virtually impossible. You can watch Zee5 in the USA and any other country with the help of a VPN. This is pretty much the same trick people use to avoid the annoying restrictions of Netflix and other extensive streaming services.

Zee5 is available in Smart TVs, Android and iOS mobile devices, and web browsers. It also supports more than 12 languages.

The streaming service has a monthly and annual subscription fee of EUR4.99 and EUR 39.99, respectively. That’s approximately $6 and $49.

5. Mubi

Mubi is a favorite to many people because it provides an online cinephile community on the platform. This is where people create profiles and write reviews of movies and tv shows. It also lets you create a list and view the activities of other people.

Mubi TV has a Now Showing section that features rotating movies and tv shows and a library section with at least 800 films for its US customers.

The monthly Mubi subscription is $10.99. You can get a reasonable discount by making an annual payment of $95.88. The platform supports Full HD streaming, and you can download shows for offline viewing.

As you can see, there is plenty of content to watch if you can look beyond the three mainstream streaming services. Some of these platforms are entirely free, while others, like Fubo TV, let you catch your movies and sports with a single subscription.
