According to Daily Real Estate News, single females are buying homes at more than twice the rate of males. This housing gender gap has existed for a while but it continues to widen for a variety of reasons.
Single women tend to buy their first homes at an older age than men, generally purchasing there homes at 34 instead of at 31, which is the male age. They also tend to buy at a lower average price at $173,000 compared to $190,600. Likely, this trend is due to the wage gap between a man's income and a woman's income.
All in all, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) is cautiously optimistic for 2017, moving forward, making 2017 a great year to buy a home, regardless of your gender.
