Simple Decor Ideas To Make Hosting In Your Compact Home Easy

Hosting people is art. And, living in a small home doesn't necessarily mean you can't play a good host. All it takes is a little bit of foresight and aesthetic judgment in getting your cozy space well- organized to receive guests. Here's our checklist on simple hacks that make hosting in small areas not just comfortable but downright pleasurable. Take a look!

Invest In Collapsible Furniture

You may be a couple of people using your dining table or couch daily. But come guests, and you'll wish you had more sitting space. That's precisely why investing in Collapsible Furniture is a great idea. It shrinks down to a table for two every day, and on a big day, extends to a large functional table by pulling out a section of it. Similarly, your couch could also stretch out to accommodate more people. Collapsible Furniture is a must-have in small spaces if hosting is something you enjoy doing.

Sectionalize Entrée & Main Course

If your home has the luxury of an outdoor space or a balcony, use it to your advantage and play a good host. Convert that free open space in your patio to a cozy dining spot by investing in some aesthetic wicker outdoor furniture. So that way, you could float around your appetizers indoors and have an outdoor dining arrangement ready to move your guests to a sit-down meal once it's dinner time. And let's admit it, this outdoor dining space will soon become your favorite hangout spot at the end of a long day.

Ditch The Add-Ons

Those gorgeous cushions complement your couch well. But on a day when you are expecting high footfall, it's best you put them away to create more sitting space. Likewise, anything occupying space that could come of use to sit should be turned out for the night. That also includes those stacks of books on your study chair or any Furniture blocking a sitting area.

Strategize Your Meal

If you are missing a dining area for your guests, plan a meal that does not require sitting at all. You could set up a beverage counter and have a food station at the other end of your home to carry simple yet filling finger foods. Think skewers, sliders, puff pastry, bruschetta, tortilla roll-ups, garlic bread - this list is endless! Float these around on large trays in your home and eliminate the need for a sit-down meal. That also means fewer dishes to do when your guests leave! Do stack up a ready supply of hand tissues for these finger foods, though.

Put Away Unnecessary Furniture

That footstool you use every day or the lone beanbag near your TV could prove to be more of a hindrance than a boon when your guests start pouring in. Let's face it; nobody is going to sit on a stool that's so low or park themselves alone on a beanbag. These seemingly harmless pieces of Furniture could eat up a lot of your floor space for no help given. Instead, put them away in another room and borrow some chairs that could hold a group of people together. It's all about functional and convenient seating.

Decorate The Walls

If you're short on floor space in your home, that doesn't mean you need to ditch the idea of decorating your home altogether. Opt for attractive wall-mounted pieces that include paintings, antique figurines, or photographs. You could also use drapes to your advantage and sectionalize parts of your home to give an illusion and space and privacy. Throw up decorations on your window frames or stick those birthday props on the wall rather than occupying floor space with balloons.
