"Unforgettable" Katharine Heigl Movie Review

Following in the footsteps of films like Fatal Attraction, Sleeping With The Enemy and Obsessed comes another fun, suspenseful thriller, Unforgettable, now playing in theaters.

This film has a lot going for it, especially when it comes to its icy villain played by Katherine Heigl. Even though Heigl's career hasn’t been great lately, getting her inner crazy out was just what she needed. The character of Tessa, the ex-wife of David (played by the talented Geoff Stults), Heigal does a fantastic job at bringing her psycho mental problems to life on screen. When David’s new fiance Julia (Rosario Dawson) movies in with David and his daughter Lily (Isabella Kai Rice) those psycho tendencies are revealed as she sets out to manipulate and make Julia’s life miserable. Julia has her own tortured past, which is just like catnip for Tessa’s dirty work. 

The film actually starts six months later, where we find a beaten upped Julia being interrogated by police as she becomes their only suspect in the murder of her abusive ex-boyfriend Michael (played by Simon Kassianides). It's very confusing for her as all the evidence points to her. Jump six months earlier and you can see how increasingly difficult it is for Tessa to see David and Julia’s blissful relationship, which ultimately sets her to fail in every way possible, especially with her relationship with her daughter Lily. 

When Tessa creates a fake Facebook page, which leads to the abusive boyfriend making an climactic entrance, is just one of the ways she proves that she is crazy and devious but I won’t say anything more except that this film has the mother of all catfights and the build up is so worth it.

This female-driven film is a breathe of fresh air from all the male-driven films recently and better yet, it doesn't make Dawson look like a helpless victim, even though she was twice now. As much as I love Rosario Dawson, it's truly Katherine Heigl that steals the show. Even though she seems like she has all together in her ordered life, when her mother (Played by the incredible Cheryl Ladd) is when you really see how vulnerable Tessa is and you start to understand what she is the way she is. It almost gives you a little sympathy towards her.

Denise Di Novi does a great job in her directing with the help of a great script by Christina Hodson and David Johnson. This suspenseful thriller has plenty of girl-power and is great for a girls night out or for just a couple hours of pure fun entertainment.
