How to Keep Your Home Cool During Summers

When you come from the hot weather inside your house and still face extreme heat inside, it can ruin your mood even more. The feeling of exhaustion due to the summer makes you unable to work or do any chores in your house. You start procrastinating and keep skipping the tasks.

Various things help in making your house cooler. It can be either an air conditioner or a plant to keep your home cooler during this intense heat. Let's look at the different ways to make your space cooler.

Installing Blinds

Getting sunlight through windows is also important, but on extremely hot days, it's best to avoid the sun's rays; otherwise, the heat can cause dehydration. Installing blinds on your windows can reduce sunlight by almost 70 percent.

The custom blinds option can improve the interior and enhance functionality, such as movable blinds with slats in horizontal or vertical orientation. It also changes the direction of the sunlight at the angle you want.

Placing Outdoor Plants

Placing outdoor plants around your house can significantly reduce the surrounding temperature. Plants can also serve as a shield, as they get hit by the sunlight first, then your house.

A plant like the Dracena plant is a tall one that doesn’t require much care. They perform transpiration, which means the released vapors act as a natural cooler. Keeping taller plants like areca or date palm also acts as a natural humidifier and increases the cooling effect.

Setting up A/C

One of the most feasible and effective ways to beat the heat is to install an air conditioner or inverter in your home. The air conditioner has a thermostat that allows a person to set the temperature down to 16 degrees.

The cooling effect of A/C keeps you relaxed at home, so you can complete your chores easily at any time without getting sweaty or dehydrated from the heat.

Cleaning Air Ducts

If you already have A/C installed but still have trouble keeping the room cool, you may need duct cleaning. Duct cleaning of an air conditioner removes debris, blockages, and dirt that are stopping the airflow.

When the airflow stops, cooler air doesn’t flow properly because the passage gets choked. By removing a thick layer of dust from the air path, the cooler air can travel and keep the room cold.

Lowering Light Usage

Tubelights, or incandescent bulbs, emit energy as heat. During summer, it is advisable to use less light or switch to an LED light that doesn’t consume much energy. Combining these LED lights with blackout curtains can speed up the effect and reduce both outside and inside heat.

Minimizing Heat Usage Through Exhaust

When you are in the kitchen and cooking food, heat is emitted from the flame. This makes your home very warm and leaves you exhausted after cooking. Installing an exhaust fan helps you keep the home cool.

An exhaust fan takes all the heat and smoke that comes out during cooking and vents it outside. It also clears the air and removes unpleasant odors. Baking becomes less exhausting by using this fan.
